The authors spoke to people leaving private readings who had some interesting comments to make:
"After the reading I really felt good because ... oh ... she told me what to do," said a woman from Ohio. "The medium felt good about the reading too and said she would have stopped it if she hadn't felt good about what she was telling me — said she would have gotten a knot right in her stomach if she hadn't felt good about the reading."
Another woman exclaimed, "My car won't start and I can't get out of this s.o.b. town. What's wrong with my car? Why didn't I ask the medium?"
"One day I was giving a reading to a lady," recalls a medium in Cassadaga, "and I said to her, 'Your brother's here,' and I gave his name. She said, 'I don't want him. I don't want to talk to him.' And then I heard his voice say, 'Well tell her, by God, I wasn't that anxious to talk to her either.' And I told her and she said, 'That just sounds like the bastard.'
One young man in the medical field confessed that he had had two readings from the same medium in Cassadaga during a period of two weeks. "It was during a 'trying' time," he said, "when I was having some business problems and I went there looking for guidance and peace-of-mind. Since then my stomach aches have gone away. My headaches went away. She just gave me peace-of-mind — guidance — she made me at ease with myself."
